After our trip to Asda, we stripped the wallpaper off the end wall of the bathroom so we could put up our new shiny steel cabinet. We actually put up the shelves first, so we could take a lot of stuff off the floor an empty a lot of boxes and bags.

This is our new cabinet. We had to remove one row of tiles so we could get it to the right height. When we were stripping wallpaper we noticed that the paper seemed to start from behind the tiles but we didn't actually expect the tiles to have been put on over the top of the wallpaper.

The next photo shows the back of one of the tiles, with the wallpaper stuck to it. The red dust is from drilling the holes in the wall to attach the cabinet.

This is our newly finished bedroom shelf. As you can see, there really isn't room for any bedside tables - one side of the bed has the door up against it. The other side has a small gap where the wardrobe drawers open into.

Talking of the wardrobe, here is the door which doesn't open properly! We're both sure we checked the height of the shelf before we started drilling any holes but the shelf is quite thick. The plaster in the bedroom is really dry and powdery and caused problems with the plugs spinning around when we tried to screw the shelf bracket to the wall - we had to put small amounts of poly-filler on the plugs first to give them something more secure to grip.

This is the underside of the shelf showing the lamp we fitted - it's one of those lamp units designed to fit in a cabinet. Also, note the lack of any visible shelf bracket in any of these photos - the bracket is within the shelf - it's quite impressive but it did require 16 holes to be drilled into the wall!

Our new coat hangers in the hall - note the horrible wallpaper which we've not been able to strip yet because it seems to be firmly welded to the plasterboard wall. Also note the radiator from the front room standing next to it.

Our half price tv stand we got from Ikea a couple of weeks ago.

A temporary measure to give us some shelf space in the kitchen - this is a cheap £15 bookcase but it manages to take all our tins and jars. And a packet of birds trifle mix which I was given in Aber and we still haven't eaten it yet!
